Pantone’s Very Peri
We felt that we would be doing our friends and customers a disservice by not mentioning the official Pantone colour for 2022. This year’s colour is a bright periwinkle shade called Very Peri. Although it’s undeniably bright and beautiful, it’s a divisive shade. Some people love its bright and uplifting nature, while others feel that it’s totally off-limits as a paint choice for their home. Why do we love it?
“Designed to pique curiosity and creativity, the warm, joyful hue is meant to symbolize our transition out of the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic.” Who can argue with that? We’ll paint our entire house in Very Peri if it’ll help expedite the end of the pandemic!
If you’re feeling inspired to help put an end to the pandemic (not medical advice), a great paint choice is Gentian SW 6817 by Sherwin-Williams.

Moody colours will be a top choice for small areas of the home this year. Shades that are not quite black but rather deep greys, blues, and greens will work well as an accent wall, cabinetry colour, or to add contrast to secondary spaces like a home office or a powder room.
Pro Tip: Our advice is to paint a swatch of colour and let it dry completely before making any final decisions. One of our favourites is Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore.

Terracotta paint colours are going to be more popular than ever this year. The warmth of a terracotta hue can feel very grounding. This earthy tone has been more present in tile and flooring in the past, but it’s moving on up to the walls this year. One of our favourite choices is Burnt Sienna from Benjamin Moore.

If painting your home a periwinkle purple or nearly black is not your thing, this trend may be more your jam. Pastel neutrals are a softer approach. This year, trends are moving away from stark white neutrals and heading more towards soft pops of colour. Sagey greens, mid-tone browns, and even soft shades of yellow are a more demure choice, while still being very on-trend.
Our personal favourite in this category is Evergreen Fog by Sherwin-Willams.
